Herd & Flock Animal Sanctuary rescues and provides homes to neglected and abused farm animals. Since we began three years ago, we have saved over 700 animals by providing them life-saving temporary or permanent homes. We run tours and host volunteer events to facilitate relationships between members of the community and our farm animal residents. Our animals serve as ambassadors, teaching community members about the richness and complexity of their lives. When people spend time with the animals and learn about the horrors of factory farming, many question their own consumption of meat and dairy products.

Any resulting increase in plant-based eating not only benefits farm animals, but also, on a larger scale, benefits the environment by limiting the number of forests that are cleared for agriculture. Animal agriculture is a major contributor to global warming and reducing consumption of animal products is one thing each person can do that can really make a difference. Plant based eating also has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some mental health illnesses.

Herd & Flock is located on 60 acres in Vacaville, California.  We provide first rate compassionate care to our 80+ permanent residents in addition to the foster residents that we take in throughout the year.

And with your help, we can continue to make a difference

We welcome volunteers aged 10 or above.  Volunteer work may consist of working in our garden, chopping produce for the animals, brushing the cows, or cleaning up goat poop to name just a few options. We make sure that every volunteer gets the opportunity do a meet and greet with the animals. Volunteering is also just a great way to spend time outside in the beautiful rolling hills of northern California.

As a small nonprofit, every donation counts. Your gifts support our mission of rescuing farm animals and raising awareness about the harms of industrial agriculture.  Feeding and housing farm animals is expensive and inflation has driven prices for hay and bedding supplies through the roof.  We would be grateful if you would consider donating to Herd and Flock today.
